Emerald Pool, also called Sa Morakot, is a natural freshwater pool in Khao Pra-Bang Khram Wildlife Sanctuary in Khlong Thom, Krabi. You walk through the forest to reach it, then swim in the main pool where swimming is allowed. It's a nice change of scene if you've spent the last few days at the beach.
Choose your Emerald Pool day trip
Don't expect a huge lagoon all to yourself. The pool is a popular stop, and tour groups visit throughout the day. The colour can look different with the light, rain and water conditions. That's part of visiting a natural place.
First comes the forest walk. Bring drinking water and wear shoes that grip well on wet ground. There's no need to rush, especially near the pool where the edges can be slippery. Once you reach the swimming area, take your time getting in.
Bring a towel and something dry for the ride back. The walk is part of the visit, so allow for that as well as your swim. If anyone in your group has trouble walking or using steps, ask us about access before booking.
Blue Pool, also called Bo Nam Phut, is a different spring farther into the sanctuary. It's known for its deep blue colour, but you can't swim there. The trail can close, so check the signs and ask staff whether you can visit on the day. An Emerald Pool visit doesn't guarantee that Blue Pool will be open.
